Bubbling Over with Fun!

A perfect day filled with sunshine and a cool breeze presented us a wonderful opportunity
to explore bubbles.

Getting the knack of blowing the perfect bubble requires the right skills!

When you blow too hard...no bubbles.
When you blow too soft...no bubbles.

Getting enough bubble solution on the end of the bubble wand is ever-so-important!

When you blow just right...not too hard and not too soft and
steady as she goes...
bubbles abound!

Planting Trees

The true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to sit.
~Nelson Henderson~

Knowing just the right class to handle such an undertaking, our group was given a great gift of trees.
And we knew just the group to help us plant them!
Mr. Vial and his Grade 5 students worked with the children as they chose the site for each tree.

The hole had to be deep enough to for the root ball, but not too deep!
Mr. Vial helped the children understand the importance of planting the tree so it had it's best chance to survive and grow. The roots need firm ground.

The small shovels were just the right size to check how deep to dig the hole.
Small hands, mighty work.

Clearing the site of weeds will help the tree to grow.
Just the right spot!

Once the tree is planted in the hole, it's time to put all the dirt back and pack it in to give the roots a chance to get a good hold of the soil. Then the roots can get stronger to hold the tree in place.
Teamwork!

The children will be able to watch the trees they planted grow and grow.
We will watch the children grow and grow.

Inspiration Naturally

Nature provided our paintbrushes. The children become so creative when the materials are open for them to explore and experiment with. An open art studio invites children to experience the materials.

Painting the hydrangea and seeing how the stems connect and how delicate the flowers are.

Using pieces of the flowers, stems, leaves and seeds to a family portrait.
"My mom likes flowers!"

The leaf makes interesting prints.

The children tell us the elaborate stories of their pictures as each detail is added.

Figuring out if it's better to paint the petals or dip the flower in the water colour paints.

Recreating the colours of the natural materials that have inspired their art.

Mixing mediums of paint, glue and plants give the children many ways
to express themselves and their thinking.

Each and every day the children naturally inspire us in the wonderful world of kindergarten!

Miles of Smiles

These smiles are brought to you by all the happy that's spilling out.
The more they are shared...the more there are!

Creative Construction

The creativity that our children engage in never ceases to amaze us!

Savannah designed a dog with the connectors, complete with 4 legs, paws and a mouth that opens and closes. We were so excited she signed up to share her creation and describe to the children how she made it.

The Lego centre is always a place of great creativity. The children have been designing rocket ships, space ships and air ships. Mrs. St. Onge decided that this deserved further investigation!

The Lacy table is also another great place of creativity. Children work together to design many structures and objects. Sometimes the children build imaginary worlds, and other times they build structures that reflect what they know.
