Wind Energy
The students, Mrs. St.Onge and Madame Lewis went outside to learn about wind energy. They noticed that all the leaves had blown against the fence. They took the leaves off the fence and threw them up in the air and noticed that they went back to the fence. This led to a discussion about the direction of the wind. They headed down the sidewalk and noticed that the windmill was moving really fast. The students were asked, "Why was the windmill moving so quickly?' The students responded it was going fast because the wind was moving. They noticed that the windmill made electricity for the school. They noticed that the flag was moving and it was moving in the same direction as the wind. Mrs. St.Onge asked the students how did they know it was a windy day by looking at the puddles. Grace told the group that the water was moving; she called the little waves "ripples" As they headed back to the hill in the back of the school, they threw up lightweight scarves, and watched how far they moved. The students noticed it was
windiest at the top of the hill because the scarves travelled farther.
