Mud Walk

Glorious mud, you familiar friend,
How we love being with you again.

Our mud boots ready at the door,
Wanting to stomp cross the Spring earth floor.
A splash, a squish a slippery schloop,
You wonderful mix of muddy goop.
Because of you, all can see,
The boot prints where we have been.

On a spongy path, you carpet our way,
You invite us along, a partner in play.
Your smile runs down our hillside,
Reminding us of our snowy slide.

Soft and soupy in the lowland,
You change up high where the sight is grand.

Where wind whirls all around and then,
We spot you near a towering friend.

Off we run toward your beckoning call,
Off we run, one and all!

Magnificent mud! Oh mire and muck!
We've found more of you! Oh what luck!
There's plenty for all to go through and explore,
We tromp and trample and splash some more.
Joyful mud we missed you so!
Your squishy feel, your gooey glow.

Here's to you, mud! We celebrate,
All the things that make you great!

Your invitation to everyone,
To play with you and have such fun.
To remember the child deep within,
Dirty, delightful satisfaction.
Below the snow you lay in wait,
While we each day anticipate...

The melted snow, a gray rain cloud,
"Look, there's one now!" a shout out loud!
Oh mud you marvelous messy wonder,
We spy your friends...rain and thunder!
