Making pesto
Last Friday we had our volunteer luncheon and the children noticed I was putting basil leaves on my antipasto platter. They were very curious about the basil leaves so I brought in my basil plant, along with pine nuts and my mezzaluna (Italian for "half moon``), to share with them how we make pesto. They loved the smell and working with the mezzaluna to chop up the basil and the pine nuts.
