Our rooftop garden

What a wonderful opportunity it was for our students to plant seeds in our classroom, watch them grow and transplant in our garden.

Investigating, tadpoles

Our friends were very interested in investigating our tadpoles the last two weeks of school. We had lots of great conversations around the changes that were happening.

A Visitor With A Green Thumb

Guess who came to help with our rooftop garden?
Here are some hints:
Her chief concern is children.
She really loves it when they eat an apple a day.
She decided to doctor things up a bit and helped to pull weeds and water the veggies.
Have you guessed who our mystery guest is?
It's Dr. Morgan, Chief of Paediatrics!
One of her favourite pastimes is to be in her garden. Dr. Morgan was very excited to lend me a hand...and even more excited that the children had done such an amazing job! She was happy to know that we had planted so many vegetables.  She's looking forward to a bountiful harvest. This may just call for a lunch date. I'm quite sure she'd be impressed with our junior chefs!

Artist at work

During one of our walks the last week of school we came across Corine Garret a grade 8 student who was sketching in the park. She is a very talented artist that took the time to share her artwork and answer questions from students.

A Rooftop Food Factory

So much to do,
Such little ones to do it!

Wow!!! Our kindergarten children just dug right in! With the help of some older children, the rooftop garden transformation began. The garden needed to be prepared for the vegetable seeds they had sprouted and they set right to work.

Getting right down to the root of things!

We worked and worked and worked and pulled.
Roots sure are strong!
