With all the rain lately the children were able to get on their rain gear and have some fun in the puddles.

Our photo project

A group of children have been interested in photography since the beginning of the school year. Last week we had a visit from a local photographer Monica Bunde and she did a presentation to the group of children that have been taking photographs throughout the year. She did a wonderful job showing them different cameras and sharing how she takes photographs. They were very interested in looking at the film from an old camera and the one that instantly makes a photograph. Monica had a beautiful collection of photographs that she shared with our future photographers. 

Through The Eyes Of A Child

Here are the latest photos that were taken at school and on our trip to Greenview Aviaries. The children are now being trained on the small wonder video cameras and we should be posting some of those videos in the coming week.

Math moments

Lots of wonderful things have been happening in our classroom the last few weeks. Here are some of those math moments that have happened while children have been engaged in play.

We weighed the chicks to see which one was the heaviest. The children predicted which one they thought weighed the most.

The children are constantly in the kitchen helping to measure the ingredients that go into following a recipe.

The children measure the ingredients that go into making play dough and our baking clay.

The children arrived one day after it rained all night to discover lots of worms in our playground. They brought the worms in and made some predictions on which ones were the longest. They used non-standard units to measure how long the worms were.

Building with blocks

Our building area both inside and out is truly an amazing environment. When it comes to learning, children tend to focus their time and attention on those things they find interesting and worthwhile. Each day our block area transforms into a new adventure for our children. They work together to build a structure where they will use their imagination and create a space where so much learning is happening. We have truly been impressed with all the amazing creations this year.
