Beginnings Of A Vegetable Garden

Springtime and soup naturally brings to mind vegetable gardens!

The children worked together to plant the seeds of so many vegetables. One by one, they loaded the trays of the greenhouse.
The right amount of soil is very important. Should the seeds sit on top with just a sprinkling of soil over them?
Do some seeds need to be planted a little deeper? Why?

Now the seeds have some healthy soil. Some compost and worm juice was added to give a wonderful amount of nutrients to the soil. Just like people...plants need nutritious food to grow!

What's your favourite vegetable?

Some of the vegetables are root vegetables. The tasty veggie grows under the ground!

The pots are ready to be covered and set in the sun. Later, they'll be planted on the rooftop garden.
Oh yummy! Imagine how tasty our soup will be in the fall!

A Work Of Art

A new box of Wikki Stix was all the inspiration this collaborative team needed! The artists set right to work.

Now, if you look closely at our artists, you'll see some striking resemblances in their self portraits. Irelande is represented with red hair, blue eyes and her blue outfit. Talia is represented with blond hair, blue eyes and her pink shirt. Grace has very dark brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing stripes.
The artists quickly decided who would be doing the different parts of their art work.
They all wanted to do the butterflies!
A wonderful home in a beautiful park setting. Butterflies, rainbows and sunshine.
And a soccer ball for just the right amount of fun!
It's easy to see why they are all smiling!

Through The Eyes Of A Child

We continue to be caught off guard when we look through the photos that the children have taken. Flowers and friends. Structures and sunshine. Puddles and perspective. Buds and big blocks. Rescuers and rocks.  As you scroll through the photos, take a moment at each one to imagine your child taking the photo. The why and the wonder of each photo tells us so much about the who of the photographer!
