Beginnings Of A Vegetable Garden

Springtime and soup naturally brings to mind vegetable gardens!

The children worked together to plant the seeds of so many vegetables. One by one, they loaded the trays of the greenhouse.
The right amount of soil is very important. Should the seeds sit on top with just a sprinkling of soil over them?
Do some seeds need to be planted a little deeper? Why?

Now the seeds have some healthy soil. Some compost and worm juice was added to give a wonderful amount of nutrients to the soil. Just like people...plants need nutritious food to grow!

What's your favourite vegetable?

Some of the vegetables are root vegetables. The tasty veggie grows under the ground!

The pots are ready to be covered and set in the sun. Later, they'll be planted on the rooftop garden.
Oh yummy! Imagine how tasty our soup will be in the fall!
