A Perfect Time to Chime In

We are always so fortunate in the wonderful world of kindergarten
to enjoy the community connections we make.

Ms. Laura has been with us since the beginning of the year. She helps the children as they snack and lunch and play.
On this day, she brought a special surprise for all of them!
Ms. Laura opened a mysterious box and it contained the most interesting objects.
They all had letters on them.
The letters were the same as the letters that are on the musical scale.
She called these musical instruments chimes.

The chimes had to be held just the right way. When the children flicked their wrist, a small hammer tapped the bar it was attached to and a musical note sounded.
Different lengths of chimes gave different musical notes.
It was amazing to hear the musical note the chime made
when you held it right by your ear.
Ms. Laura had a book filled with pages of musical lines and letters and notes.
When she pointed to the each child that held a chime with a letter following the notes in her book and
musical songs played!
A rousing rendition of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star sang from the chimes.
And Mrs. Brent was very touched with a beautiful birthday serenade.

A special Thank You to Ms. Laura for sharing her musical talents with all of us!
