Creating Our Word Wall

What looks like a basket of sticks and has a sound of it's own?

The beginning of our word wall...naturally!

Ms. Lecoq worked with many children all through the week.

Letters were formed to build our word wall. Children wanted to make the letters in their own names first!

Then they helped to make other letters that they liked.

Sometimes they would choose a stick and think of the letter that it looked like.

Building the letters with natural materials has awakened the children's senses. They get to feel, see and make the many sounds of the letters they have created.
Pointing out the letters in their name and the letters that they know can be made into a fun game at home and as you travel. They are sure to surprise you with their letter/sound connections!
