Herb Soup?

It all started with Stone Soup. Needing all the ingredients for Stone Soup, we made a trip to the market. The market was filled with everything you could ever need for a hearty pot of soup! From root vegetables, to vegetables that grow on vines... even the fresh herbs that give our foods such wonderful flavours.

We got a mortar and pistil and gave the children the opportunity to crush the herbs. Something that smelled this good just had to be added to a soup!

Cody remembered the rosemary plant that grows in the big pot on the shelf. It smelled wonderful!

They asked for a big pot. They had soup in mind! The rinds, peelings and bits of veggies that had accumulated in the kitchen were added to the pot. The children filled cups of water and added them to the pot.

They stirred and stirred and tasted along the way. Fresh herbs added just the right flavour.

"This is even better than Stone Soup! We should make enough for everyone. This is the best soup ever!"
